To treat a new or old terracotta floor, several steps and different products are essential:
1 - Preparation
Cleaning, Stripping :
Before any other treatment, dirt and previously applied products must be removed to give back to the stone its original appearance.
Wax and Dirt Remover LOUIS XIII is a highly concentrated product which eliminates waxes, grease, dirty oil, grime...
End of job cleaning:
Acid Based Remover LOUIS XIII is an extra- powerful product which also eliminates rust and oil while protecting the joints. Can be used on sandstone, terracotta or natural acid-resistant stone.
White Stain Eliminator LOUIS XIII is an exclusive acid-free formula which eliminates white veils (risings of lime) and nourishes the floor tiles in depth. Recommended for terracotta and red tiles, it intensifies their shade.
2- Treatment
Water-Proofing:
To protect your floors against water, oil, wine ...ect. stains, oils, wines..., Valmour recommends : Tile Protector Impregnator LOUIS XIII.
It is the basic treatment for all porous floors, and in particular for interior or exterior terracotta tiles. In-depth waterproofing action, while preserving the original natural appearance of the support.
We recommend this product because it is solvent-based (maximum temperature 25°C) which makes it easy to apply even by a non-professional. It does not contain linseed oil and does not modify the original appearance of the treated surface. The product being very efficient, your floors will be permanently protected against water, oil, and wine stains etc... It is advisable to apply one coat everywhere and add a second coat on all exposed areas of your floor like kitchens, the surroundings of fire places or tables ...
If you have treated your floor before with White Stain Eliminator, wait for about 10 days before applying Tile Protector Impregnator.
