Taking Care of Cement Tiles

To care for cement floor tiles, Valmour recommends to begin by protecting the floor, and afterwards proposes a solution to embellish and care for it in a very modern way.

1 - "End of job"Cleaning:

- On cement tile floors which have just been laid, it is delicate to use acid to eliminate the white veils left after jointing. But it is possible to use the Acid Based Remover LOUIS XIII by diluting it in 50 % of cold water, and after having tested it before on a hidden part of your floor.

It is also possible to sand the surface with Sand Paper thin 180 (by hand, with a sander or with a monobrush equipped with a "mesch" disc) to eliminate these risings and reduce the porosity. Afterwards, vacuum thoroughly to remove the dust.

- On old floors, use the Carrelax to scrub clean.

- To eliminate resistent white veils which reappear constantly, use the White Stain Eliminator LOUIS XIII which will also embellish your floor and can be used for regular care.

2- Protection :

Before treating your floor, let it dry thoroughly (approx. for 1 week in dry weather), except for floors equipped with floor heating.
Afterwards, apply 2 coats of Terrazo Sealer (green formula) with an interval of 12 hours between coats, which will give your floor long-lasting protection and enhance its colour by giving it a beautiful "wet" appearance.

- For kitchen floors, and exposed areas like the surroundings of fireplaces and tables, you can apply a coat of Oleo Sealer instead of the first coat of Terrazo Sealer for increased protection against oil and grease. Afterwards, let dry and continue normally by applying the second coat of Terrazo Sealer.

- For exterior use, in case of very smooth floors, opt for the Oleo Sealer instead of the Terrazo Sealer, which can render these floors slippery because it neutralizes the absorbtion of water.

3 - Regular care:

For economical regular care, use the Real Black Soap with Linseed Oil LOUIS XIII, which does not require rinsing and embellishes the floor while leaving a light lemony scent.

4 - Embellishing :
Afterwards, to strengthen the finishing and to add a beautiful satin shine, apply the Foriver, a long-lasting acrylic wax which is scratch-resisting and stain-repellent: against oil, wine,water... Easy application approx. once a year with a floorcloth. Quick-drying. One light application gives a waxed, 2 applications a shiny appearance.
For regular care, use the Wash and Wax. Apply diluted, no need to rinse.
