To repaint a cast iron radiator, Valmour suggests to proceed as follows:

 1- PREPARATION:

Prepare your radiator to be able to apply the paint onto a clean, dry and greaseless surface.

 - If necessary, eliminate ancient coats of paint with Gel Stripper VALMOUR. Its gel formula is particularly adapted for vertical surfaces.
- In case of rust, sand or brush the radiator. In both cases it is advisable to apply the Valmour Rust Stop Converter. Its role is to transform residual or future rust into a protective layer. As rust develops at the expense of this product, the more you apply, the longer the protection lasts.

To obtain a controlled patina, apply the Valmour STOP RUST Converter by "wiping", i.e. avoiding overloading with cotton wool soaked in the product.

- If necessary, degrease with acetone beforehand.

2- FINISHING:

Afterwards, you can choose between 2 types of finishing:
- a varnish, which is transparent to keep the appearance of cast iron.
- a paint, which will be covering and allows  to choose a colour.
For a varnish: it is possible to conserve the appearance of cast iron by applying a colorless varnish. We direct you towards our Protection Varnish OMNIVERNIS Valmour, a bi-component polyurethane formula of professional quality. Polyurethane paints are particularly supple and offer excellent protection against UV. rays, and bi-component formulas are of the best possible quality.
This varnish is available in a matt, satiny or shiny finish.
For a paint: as the temperature of a radiator does not rise above 65°C, it is not mandatory to use a high temperature paint, but important to use a paint of professional quality.
Choose between the following appearances:
- metallic: choose between TOLEMAIL Silver or TOLEMAIL Gilt Paint ( 2 shades of gold).
satin shineTOLEMAIL Special Ironwork proposing 16 colours.
matt: use TRIPLE MAT FLAMBO
