Valmour recommends to proceed according to the following steps:
1 - Staining :
This is an optional step depending on your taste: you can use the following products:
- Nut Husk LOUIS XIII which can be diluted with water to obtain all the different colours of wood,
- Oak Aging LOUIS XIII to age oak which looks too new,
- Woodwork Stain LOUIS XIII, which is a hydro-alcoholic stain available in particular in pastel shades.
2 - Preparation :
Afterwards, it is absolutely essential to treat the base to fix the stain, protect the wood and allow an easy finishing. Apply an even coat of Undercoat For Wood Floors To be Waxed LOUIS XIII with a large Brush, to obtain a beautiful satin shine. Let dry for 4 hours, then repeat the procedure.
Let dry completely for 8 hours.
Caution, this product will add a very light natural "honey" shade.
3 - Finishing :
- traditional waxed finish : apply an even coat of one of the following waxes with Cotton Wick LOUIS XIII or with a Brush ( shorten the bristles to add rigidity):
. De Luxe Paste Wax Polish for Wooden Floors LOUIS XIII , prepreferably in 2 thin coats than one thick coat. This traditional formula dries very quickly and gives a very pleasant scent. Let dry, then shine with a wool Cloth or with a floor polisher. This wax is also available as a liquid : De Luxe Liquid Wax Polish LOUIS XIII, if you prefer to apply it with a floor polisher.
. The Antiquarian's Patina AVEL if you prefer a 100 % turpentine formula. It will dry a bit slower and the scent is more pronounced.
- traditional sealed finish : use Wood Floor and Stair Sealer AVEL.
- easy modern finish : apply Varnishing Emulsion for Wooden Floors Avel to embellish and strengthen the protection of your floor, and Metallic Wax Shampoo AVEL for regular cleaning. This is a very practical solution for all types of wooden floors, and allows to obtain either a waxed or a shiny appearance depending on the quantity of coats of the emulsion.
