Staining a Piece of Furniture

Valmour suggests the following 2 solutions for staining a piece of furniture:

1 - The classical way:

It consists of applying a stain that is impregnated into the mass of the wood, to protect this stain and to make a finish.

- Different stains exist:

- the Woodwork Stain LOUIS XIII highly penetrating hydroalcoholic formula, ideal for staining wood in warm, natural tones. Easy application with Cotton Wick LOUIS XIII or with a flat and supple Brush. Finish by lighly sanding with Steel Wool LOUIS XIII N° 0000. It is possible to mix the various shades. Quick drying.

For more original shades that don't match the wood's natural colors (wheat yellow, mediterranean blue, etc.), use Ebénisterie Louis XIII stain.

- To protect this stain, i.e. block the base, apply Acrylic Hard Base Louis XIII, which protects against stains and facilitates the subsequent finish.

- Finally, to obtain the finish of your choice, apply either a wax such as Tinting Polis Louis XIII Paste, or a varnish such as Varnish Louis XIII, available in matte, satin or gloss.

-2- the most modern :

To do all this in one go, you can turn to our AVEL Anti-Stain Wood Stain. This water-based formula stains and finishes at the same time. Two coats are required on untreated wood. The result is a satin, wax-like finish.
