Vegetal tanning is a natural process which  has not changed since the Egyptians developed it. Dating back to ancient Egypt, this vegetal tanning technique transforms a raw skin into a supple, strong and rotproof material called "leather" by soaking the skins in containers with liquids containing tannins extracted from oak, birch, willow, mimosa...bark or exotic wood bark. In addition to better parasite resistance, this tanning process gives a more alive appearance to leather as well as its pleasent leather smell and helps it acquire an elegant patina during its long life.
