AdvicePainting a Concrete or Cement FloorFirst of all, it is very important that the screed releases its soft roe . Wait for 3 weeks, in particular after renewing the top coat. Afterwards, proceed according to the following steps:
- End of job cleaning :
Eliminate the soft roe released by the concrete or by the joints after laying a new floor with the help of the Acid Based Remover LOUIS XIII. How well the paint sticks to the surface depends a lot on this cleaning , therefore use this product very concentrated and rinse extensively afterwards, if possible by hosing down the surface. Afterwards, wait for a few days until the floor is perfectly dry (this delay shortens on a floor equipped with floor heating). Then brush the surface to eliminate any dust, to be able to paint on a perfectly clean, dust-free and dry floor.
To prepare an old floor, use the Wax and Dirt Remover LOUIS XIII below, which can be diluted with 4 to 20 times its volume of hot water. Rinse thoroughly.
Afterwards, choose between two options, depending of the future use of the floor:
- The first option concerns a floor which won't be used intensively, without the passing of motorized engins. In this case, use our VALMOUR FLOOR Paint. Dilute the first coat in 15 % of White Spirit and afterwards apply in one or 2 coats. The result obtained after the application oft his monocomponent paint will satisfy even the most demanding clients.
- Choose the second option for floors intended for professional use, regularly used by motorized engins: a bi-component solution including a primer and a finishing coat. 1- primer: apply our EPOXY CONCRETE Primer and wait for 48 hours. 2- finishing: on the interior, apply our VALSOL Paint, and OMNILACQUER for exterior use (better avoid epoxy paint on the exterior, because UV rays will provoke a yellowing effect).
Remarks : - To obtain an anti-slip surface, apply the first coat of VALSOL Paint, then sprinkle immediately with Silica S32 Valmour. Let dry, then sweep the floor to eliminate any loose silica. Afterwards, apply the second coat of VALSOL and ley dry.
- It is possible to give your floor a neutral shiny finish. Apply 1 coat of EPOXY CONCRETE Primer, let dry for 24 hours, then directly apply 2 or 3 coats of OMNIVARNISH, which corresponds to the OMNILACQUER Paint in neutral. © 2008 - All rights reserved Valmour
