Firebacks are submitted to high temperatures and therefore need to be protected . It is also possible to embellish the metal to give back to it the raw cast iron appearance. We recommend to proceed according to the following steps:
1- If your fireback is rusty, start with a thorough brushing with the helpo of the Bronze Brush and the Oval Brush belowto eliminate any loose rust. Afterwards, apply the Stop Rust Converter, which is a very fluid product easy to apply with a Brush, and which will act within a few minutes. It might be necessary to apply several coats, which will also increase the anti-rust protection in time.
2- Afterwards, protect your fireback with the TOLEMAIL Black High Temperature Paint, which will perfectly protect it agaist the high temperatures firebacks are submitted to , while leaving a shiny satiny appearance , which will more matt in time with every use of the fireplace.
3- To increase the matt appearance of your fireback and strengthen its protection, you can then coat it with the Black Ironwork Cream Louis XIII. Apply with Cottonstock and protect your hands with the Latex Gloves. Afterwards, you can either leave your fireback as is is to keep the matt finish corresponding to the appearance of raw cast iron, or polish it after drying to make it shine.
