Usual Care:
- Predominantly made of granite, gravestones can by cared for by using the Real Black Soap with Linseed Oil LOUIS XIII or the Wax and Dirt Remover Louis XIII if they are very dirty. Suitable for annual cleaning.
- For gravestones made of marble and which are therefore porous, we recommend the Marble Cleaner/ Grime Remover Louis XIII.
- In case of presence of moss, use the ANTIMOSS to eliminate the existing moss and prevent its regrowth.
- To eliminate resistant calcareous stains, apply the Marble Polisher LOUIS XIII with its Varnishing and Polishing Pad below. It contains a very fine natural powder which helps to get rid of even the most resistant stains.
- For impregnated and solidified grease stains, use the Wood Floor & Tile Cleaner/Grease Remover and the Terre de Sommières to liquefy and absorb these stains.
Protection:
Afterwards, the ideal solution is to protect them with theTerrazo Sealer SODERSOL: choose the formula adapted to the porosity of your stone (yellow formula for stones with low porosity like granite and marble).
Gilding:
Valmour also recommends the use of Tolemail Gilding Paint to renovate the engravings on these gravestones, or the Gilding Varnish Louis XIII for an appearance more similar to gold leaf.
- to reinforce protection of the engravings, use the External Protection Varnish LOUIS XIII.
- see below for flat and round Thin Paint Brushes.
- Copper alloy elements like bronze and brass decorations can be easily renovated with the MECANO Copper Cleaner below.
Painting: T
The engravings can also be renovated by painting them (see pictures above). We recommend Super Shiny Lacquer Paint Flambo, which is available in small cans of 50 ml, in 22 colours. Very covering, easy to apply, no running, very resistant to bad weather conditions.
